Inês Mesquita is a pharmacist from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto (2009-2014). She started as a trainee at the Institute for Molecular and Cell Biology (Porto), where she studied the role and composition of Leishmania infantum-released exosomes. In 2014, she enrolled as a trainee at the Necker Institute (Paris, France), where she studied the impact of these exosomes in iNKT functionality. Since January 2015, she has been working at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), School of Health Sciences, University of Minho. She is interested in understanding how metabolic changes are capable of altering and conditioning macrophage effector functions.More specifically, she is studying how macrophages react to the presence of IL-17A and IL-17F and how the modulation of its metabolism may impact itseffector functions in inflammatory subsets, as cancer and granulomas.
