Júlia Santos (PhD, MScMicrobiology) is an Applied Biologist, graduated from the University of Minho, with a master’s degree in Molecular Microbiology and PhD in Health Sciences. During her PhD she characterized the cell death mechanisms and nutrient signaling pathways involved in Ammonium toxicity in aging yeast cells. She is currently a post-doc researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute at University of Minho. She has a backgroundin yeast molecular biology and cell physiology and her current research activities focus on the role of Ammonium as a key effector in the nutritional balance required for increased yeast longevity.
