Madalena Esteves graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Faculdade de Farmácia da Universidade de Lisboa in 2012. Her integrated master thesis was developed at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel under the supervision of Najat Aourz, Lic. and Ilse Smolders, PhD and titled "Initial Validation in Rodents of Compounds with Anticonvulsant Action in a Zebrafish Assay".
She is currently a PhD student in the PhD OC program under the supervision of Hugo Leite-Almeida, PhD (ICVS) and co-supervision of Susana Lopes, PhD (CEDOC). Her main interest is the importance of hemisphere specialization for cognitive performance and decision making. Currently used technical approaches include task-related functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) of human subjects and electrophysiological recordings of freely moving rats.
