MadalenaEsteves graduated in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Faculdade de Farmácia daUniversidade de Lisboa in 2012. Herintegrated master thesis was developed at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel underthe supervision of Najat Aourz, Lic. and Ilse Smolders, PhD and titled"Initial Validation in Rodents of Compounds with Anticonvulsant Action ina Zebrafish Assay".

She has recently fininshed her PhD in the PhD OCprogram under the supervision of Hugo Leite-Almeida, PhD (ICVS) andco-supervision of Susana Lopes, PhD (CEDOC). Her main interest is theimportance of hemisphere specialization for cognitive performance and decisionmaking. Currently used technical approaches include task-related functionalMagnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) of humansubjects and electrophysiological recordings of freely moving rats.
