José Mariz is a General Internist Doctor, working as chief coordinating member of the Emergency Medical team in a General Central Hospital. He is also interested in cognitive clinical aspects in stroke patients and critical ill patients, mainly in the interaction of metabolic and inflammatory conditions and cerebral organic disfunction. Furthermore, he is very interested in Delirium in Acute patients, being the coordinator of the Delirirum evaluation in the Emergency Medicine Intermediary Care Unit of the Hospital de Braga, Portugal. Currently, he is developing a simple clinical score for delirium prediction in acute patients and is developing better tools for detection and gathering of information about delirium using the recent informatic devices (example: tablets). Additionally, he works with Spontaneously Hypertensive Rats in the laboratory, analysing the cognitive effects of both hypertension and Provinols.
