About

Luísa Pinto (35 years old, PhD) started her research work in the Karolinska Institute, where she did an internship with Prof. Ernest Arenas. Luísa did her PhD in the Helmholtz Zentrum München, in Neurosciences under the supervision of Dr. Magdalena Goetz. Luísa obtained her PhD degree by Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, in 2008 and did then post-doctoral research in the lab of Prof. Nuno Sousa, at the Institute of Health and Life Sciences Research, University of Minho.

Luísa Pinto is now a Member of the Portuguese Society of Neuroscience and an Associate Member of EpiGeneSys, a FP7 European Community-funded Network of Excellence.

Luísa Pinto is an Assistant Researcher at the Institute of Health and Life Sciences Research since 2013 and Invited Assistant Professor of the Medical Course at the School of Medicine since 2009.

Luísa Pinto is manager of a spin-off enterprise “BNML – Behavioral & Molecular Lab” of the ICVS.

Luísa Pinto has published 29 research papers in international peer-reviewed journals. Her work has been cited above 500 times and she has an accumulated impact factor of 214.5. She is frequently invited for peer-reviewing for Journals such as CNS Neuroscience & Therapeutics, Neuroscience, Plos One, Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, Frontiers in Cellular Neuroscience, British Journal of Pharmacology, Neuropharmacoloy, Molecular Neurobiology and Molecular Psychiatry and is now editor of the Journals Advances in Biology and  Matters.

Luisa is a project reviewer for the University of Bordeaux Postdoctoral IdEx Programme of Excellence and for the French National Research Agency (ANR).

Luisa organizes a Post-graduation course "Stem Cells Get Pratical: Approaches on stem cell isolation, characterization and differentiation", School of Health Sciences of the University of Minho, since 2011
