Hugo Leite-Almeida is a Post-Doc fellow at the ICVS/3B’s PT-Government Associate Laboratory and a histology assistant professor at the School of Health Science, University of Minho. His main line of research deals with the causality relation between peripheral neuropathies and pain, mood and cognitive function. Presently, he is being interested on the differential impact of left- and right-sided neuropathies on emotion and executive function. From a methodological point of view, his approaches have been diverse and include anatomical tracing, stereology, electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, HPLC and rodent behavior. Recently, he and his colleagues developed a new behavioral paradigm for assessment of impulsivity in rodents, the variable delay-to-signal (VDS).
