About

Belém Sampaio-Marques (35 years-old, PhD, BScBio) is an Applied Biologist graduated from University of Azores. She conclude her PhD in Health Sciences at University of Minho in 2012 with a project focused in the role of autophagy/mitophagy in a-synuclein-induced toxicity, using the yeast chronological aging model.

From 2013 and until the present, she is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the ICVS with a project focused in regulation of autophagy during aging, using the yeast model. Therefore, her current research interests include the studyof mechanisms underlying the regulation of autophagy/miyophagy during aging and age-related diseases.
