DESCRIPTION:Next Monday at 1 pm\, don’t miss Tatiana P. Morais “Targeting Astrocytic TrkB-T1 Receptors: A Path to Rescue Absence Seizures and Their Comorbidities” at the A0.03 auditorium in UMinho’s School of Medicine. \nTatiana P Morais (TPM) is a postdoctoral researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute. TPM has a degree in Health Sciences and a master’s degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon. During his PhD\, TPM moved to Cardiff University to join Prof. Vincenzo Crunelli\, to undertake a PhD in the field of Absence Epilepsy\, under the funding of an ITN Marie Sklodowska-Curie. After her doctorate\, TPM was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Malta\, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery\, in the group of Prof. Giuseppe Di Giovanni. TPM studies absence seizures and related memory deficits. As a neuropharmacologist\, TPM explores how GABA\, serotonin and cannabinoids can modulate the disease. TPM is involved with scientific communication to the public\, from visiting schools to participating in brain week\, with the aim of educating about cognitive diseases and the discrimination that patients suffer daily. TPM is a member of Native Scientist and is part of the Young Council of the Portuguese Society of Pharmacology and the Mediterranean Society of Neuroscience. In 2023\, TPM was nominated to participate in the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.
