SUMMARY:ICVS Seminar "Genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders: a window into the building blocks of human behavior"
DESCRIPTION:Next Monday at 1 pm\, don’t miss Patrícia Maciel “Genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders: a window into the building blocks of human behavior” at the A0.03 auditorium in UMinho’s School of Medicine. \nPatricia Maciel obtained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry (1993) and a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences – Genetics (1998) at the University of Porto. She is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Medicine\, Director of the MSc program in Health Sciences and Director of the ICVS\, where she also leads the Translational Neurogenetics research team.  Dr. Maciel’s research aims at understanding the genetic basis of nervous system function and dysfunction\, with a strong focus on human neurological disease\, using molecular genetics\, genomics\, transcriptomics\, proteomics\, cell biology and behavioral analysis. Her team studies neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders. The disease models they develop in C. elegans and mouse are\, once validated\, used to search for therapeutic targets and test the efficacy of therapeutic strategies for such diseases.
