SUMMARY:ICVS Advanced Seminar "Integrating lipid and immunometabolic pathways in Leishmania pathogenesis”
DESCRIPTION:Join Us for the ICVS Advanced Seminar Series \nWe are excited to announce the launch of the ICVS Advanced Seminars\, a weekly series aimed at fostering discussion on cutting-edge research. The seminars will take place every Thursday at 1 PM.\nOur first speaker\, Ricardo Silvestre\, Principal Investigator at the i3D thematic team\, will present his talk titled “Integrating lipid and immunometabolic pathways in Leishmania pathogenesis” in room A0.03 next Thursday\, April 3rd at 1PM.\nThese seminars offer a great opportunity to stay updated on the latest research\, engage in discussions\, and network with colleagues. We encourage all researchers\, students\, and staff to attend. \nRicardo Silvestre earned his degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2003 and his PhD in 2007 from the Faculty of Pharmacy\, University of Porto.  \nHis early research focused on immunology and parasitology\, including studies on Plasmodium falciparum at the Institute Pasteur in Paris. \nHis PhD research continued in Leishmania epigenetics\, immune response\, and vaccine development. \nCurrently\, he is a Principal Investigator at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS)\, University of Minho\, where his research integrates molecular and cellular mechanisms to understand the immune-metabolic interface during immune responses. \nHis work explores how changes in host cell metabolism during inflammation or infection affect immune functions and tissue homeostasis\, aiming to develop new approaches for prevention and treatment.
