Epi-Asthma
It is a population-based nationwide cross-sectional study, that aims to provide epidemiological data by identifying chronic respiratory conditions within a national sample using a multicentre stepwise approach.
Dinis Brito is a full-time general practice doctor in ACeS Braga, since 2013. Among this activity, he has been a resident’s tutor since 2016. He served as the technical advisor for USF 7fontes from 2015 to 2022. He completed his postgraduate studies in Management and Service Leadership in 2019 at Porto Business School and obtained competence in healthcare services management from Ordem dos Médicos in the same year. He leads a healthcare innovation team aimed at optimizing information systems. He has been a part time invited assistant at the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, since 2018. Included in this activity, he has been teaching in different curricular units. He is doing his PhD studies in the field of respiratory diseases, namely Asthma. There is a lack of a single standardized test sequence to diagnose asthma with both high sensitivity and specificity. With his PhD theory, Dinis Brito wants to help family physicians improving the process of diagnosing Asthma. He is part of the research team for the Epi-asthma study. This study aims to determine the prevalence of asthma based on the severity of the disease, as well as to characterize the profile of asthmatic patients in Portugal. He is also a recent member of GRESP/APMGF (Study Group of Respiratory Diseases/Portugal Association of General Practice) where he is part of the Asthma/Rhinitis Interest Group. He has been member of scientific committees and speaker in diverse national congresses.
