Next Monday at 1 pm, don’t miss Vitória da Cunha Baptista “Hemozoin: dissection of its characteristics for non-invasive malaria diagnosis and its biological pathway towards enhanced therapies” at the A0.03 auditorium in UMinho’s School of Medicine.
Vitória Baptista holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a Master’s degree in Applied Biochemistry, both from the University of Minho, Portugal. With a strong background in malaria related studies, she has dedicated five years to conducting research in this field. Currently, Vitória is in the final stages of completing her PhD, which involved collaborative studies between the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS) under the guidance of Maria Isabel Veiga and the Center of Microelectromechanical Systems (CMEMS-Uminho) under the guidance of Susana Catarino, with a short-research stay at Liliana Mâncio’s Lab at Institut Pasteur, France. Currently, she is doing research at the University of Coruña (Spain) under the guidance of Ángel Vázquez supported by an EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant. Her presentation will encompass part of the studies developed during her doctoral studies.
