ICVS Researchers Included in the World’s Top 2% Most Cited Scientists

Six researchers from ICVS have been included among the world’s top 2% most cited scientists over the past year, featured in the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2025 list, published by Stanford University in collaboration with Elsevier.

This distinction places ICVS at the forefront of biomedical research within the University of Minho, with António Salgado, Fátima Baltazar, Joana Cabral, Natália Cruz-Martins, Nuno Sousa, and Rui M. Reis recognized for their scientific significance, productivity, and international reach.

The inclusion in this exclusive list reflects the international prominence of the science developed at ICVS, reinforcing its leadership in biomedical research and innovation. Of particular note is Natália Cruz-Martins, who stands on top of the university’s highest-performing researchers.

The World’s Top 2% Scientists list is based on comprehensive citation metrics from the Scopus database, with career-long data updated to the end of 2024, and single recent year data referring to citations received during the calendar year 2024.

The 2025 edition includes around 236,000 scientists across all disciplines, of which 984 are affiliated with Portuguese institutions. The University of Minho contributes 69 researchers from 17 research units, further underscoring the institution’s growing impact on the global scientific landscape.

This recognition highlights ICVS’s commitment to scientific excellence and its continued contribution to advancing biomedical knowledge with real-world applications.
