The Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), R&D Unit of the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, announces the award of 1 (one) Animal Facility – Staff Member position in a contract of uncertain duration to carry out the following functions:
• Provision of daily care for the maintenance of animals according to the needs of each species, namely swine and sheep;
• Monitoring of animal welfare based on species‑specific parameters, particularly for swine and sheep;
• Support in the execution of procedures, including animal handling, restraint, and movement, within research projects and training activities involving swine and sheep, under the supervision of the Veterinarian;
• Cleaning and organization of animal housing areas and laboratories;
• Collaboration in stock management and receipt of materials;
• Support in waste management, including domestic waste and Group III and IV waste, as well as animal by‑products;
• Preparation, washing, and sterilization of animal facility and laboratory materials used under various biosafety conditions, including clean areas and biological containment zones (level 2 or level 3);
• Support in equipment maintenance and monitoring of facility conditions, including surveillance of animal housing environments and laboratory safety aspects;
• Execution of other related or functionally assigned duties.
