The €10,000 research grant will support the project "The Rostral Ventromedial Medulla As A Key Target Of The Maladaptive Response To Chronic Inflammatory Pain". Its main focus is the role of descending modulation in the chronification of pain in patients with osteoarthritis.

The Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) IC&DT Project competition approved funding for eleven ICVS research projects at the School of Medicine. The eleven projects represent funding of around 1 million and 500 thousand euros in biomedical research at our research institute.
