Expert in computational chemistry, Dr. Tarsila Castro has worked as a researcher in the Centre of Biological Engineering since 2017,
where she collaborates with experimentalists in the fields of health, biotech and nanotechnology.
Currently, she is also collaborating with SOLFARCOS company (Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Solutions) in the development of novel bio-based cosmeceuticals.
Castro completed her PhD in Sciences – specialty in Chemistry – in 2016 at the University of Minho and her Master’s Degree in Medicinal Chemistry in 2011 also at the University of Minho.
Earlier, in 2009, she completed the Degree in Industrial Chemistry at the Federal University of Paraíba, Brazil.
Her first experience as a post-Doc researcher was achieved via the European Project, “BioCell-NanoART – Novel Bio-inspired Cellular Nano-architectures”, in Romania (2017-2020),
where she studied neuronal proteins involved in Alzheimer’s disease and the aspects that were significant to the development of new technology.
