ICVS Student Seminar “Unveiling tuberculosis susceptibility: the key role of alveolar macrophages”
February 10 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Next Monday at 1 pm, don’t miss Consuelo Micheli “Unveiling tuberculosis susceptibility: the key role of alveolar macrophages” at the A0.03 auditorium in UMinho’s School of Medicine.
I obtained a degree in Biological Science in 2015 and a Master degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology in 2019 both awarded by the University of Pisa (Pisa, Italy). In 2020, I moved to Portugal in the context of the Erasmus+ project to study the role of alveolar macrophages in tuberculosis immunity which allowed me to generate preliminary data to successfully secure a Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) PhD fellowship. I am currently working as PhD student at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS) investigating the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. In 2024, in the context of the work that I am developing in my PhD program, I was awarded with a European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) research grant to investigate the role of alveolar macrophages in resistance vs susceptibility to the intracellular pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
