High-Throughput Screening and Automation Facility (HTSAF)

ICVS / Resources & Facilities

High-Throughput Screening and Automation Facility (HTSAF) of ICVS offers an advanced platform of integrated equipment designed to meet the complex demands of modern biological research. Our facility is equipped to handle a diverse array of high-throughput screening (HTS) and automated liquid handling tasks, from small molecule screening to applications in genomics and proteomics.

To fulfil these requirements, HTSAF provides access to cutting-edge technologies, including the JANUS® G3 Workstation. This modular platform combines an 8-tip Varispan™ arm with a 96-channel Modular Dispense Technology™ (MDT) head, enabling precise pipetting across a wide dynamic volume range from 0.5 µL with disposable tips to as low as 20 nL using pintool technology. The system is capable of dispensing into 96-, 384-, and high-density 1536-well plates, providing unmatched versatility.

This setup is further enhanced by a gripper arm, which automates the movement of tip boxes and plates, including plate stacking and lid removal, optimizing throughput, plate capacity, and operational flexibility within the JANUS® G3 Workstation.

The platform also integrates the VICTOR Nivo, a high-performance filter-based multimode microplate reader. The VICTOR Nivo supports all major detection technologies—including absorbance, luminescence, fluorescence intensity, time-resolved fluorescence, fluorescence polarization, and Alpha Technology—across plate formats ranging from 1 to 1536 wells.

Our facility excels in fully automated workflows, supporting applications such as pilot to high-throughput compound screening, PCR setup, and cell-based assays.

ICVS is a partner institution in the National Infrastructure for Chemical Biology and Genetics (PT-Openscreen) consortium.
