ICVS Researchers in Best Scientific Rankings 2025

University of Minho has once again demonstrated its strong scientific impact with 58 of its researchers featured in the 2025 Best Scientific Rankings by Research.com. Among them, five investigators from the ICVS — Fernanda Marques, João José Cerqueira, Luísa Pinto, Patrícia Maciel, and Nuno Sousa — stand out for their influential contributions to medical and biomedical sciences.

Notably, Nuno Sousa has been recognized as the Best Scientist by Discipline and Country Leader for Portugal in Neurosciences, underscoring his impact in the field.

This prestigious ranking evaluates scientists worldwide based on the volume and impact of their publications using the “D-index,” a discipline-specific metric similar to the well-known H-index. The recognition of multiple ICVS researchers highlights the institute’s role as a leader in advancing health-related research and innovation.

In addition to the ICVS team, the ranking features a wide range of outstanding researchers from other UMinho schools and institutes, including the School of Sciences, School of Engineering, School of Psychology, School of Economics, Management and Political Science, the I3BS research institute, and the Institute of Education. This diverse representation showcases UMinho’s multidisciplinary excellence and its commitment to impactful scientific discovery.
