The Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), R&D Unit of the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, announces the award of 1 (one) Laboratory Technician position in a contract of uncertain duration

The Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), R&D Unit of the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, announces the award of 1 (one) Laboratory Technician position in a contract of uncertain duration to carry out the following functions:

• Prepare biological samples (human and animal models) for histological analysis, including fixation, dehydration, embedding, staining, and slide mounting.

• Perform routine staining procedures (e.g., hematoxylin–eosin) and special stains (e.g., Giemsa, trichrome, Golgi, among others).

• Operate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment such as microtomes and cryostats.

• Conduct histological processing of human organs: recording and organizing clinical and technical information.

• Perform macroscopic dissection and systematic sampling.

• Provide specialized technical support, particularly in the processing of complex samples, immunohistochemistry techniques, and optimization of experimental protocols, in collaboration with researchers and faculty.

• Assist in the preparation of technical reports and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Manage stocks of reagents, consumables, and equipment related to the histology laboratory.

• Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and good laboratory practices, including the safe handling and disposal of biological and chemical waste.
