Alda holds a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Porto, a master’s degree in Biotechnology from the University of Minho, and postgraduate training in laboratory procedures for the diagnosis of immunopathologies at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Porto.

She has over two decades of experience in clinical diagnostic laboratories, where she has conducted and validated diagnostic tests, developed and maintained standard operating procedures, monitored quality assurance programs, assisted with internal audits, trained staff, and mentored university interns.

In addition, she has worked in the biotechnology industry, further broadening her professional expertise.

She has also conducted academic research at both undergraduate and graduate levels in molecular biology and immunology and currently serves as secretary to the ICVS Directive Board within the ICVS administrative unit.
