“Pedro Fonte is a full time general practice doctor in USF do Minho, ACeS Braga, since 2014. Among this activity, he has been a resident’s tutor since 2016.
He has been a part time invited assistant at the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, since 2012. Included in this activity, he has been teaching in different curricular units. He has been the coordinator of a 6th year curricular unit (Residency in Health Centre). He was also the co-coordinator of different editions of advanced courses in mental health and respiratory diseases.
He is doing his PhD studies in the field of respiratory diseases, namely Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease. One of the most important problems related to this disease is its worldwide underdiagnosis. With his PhD theory, Pedro Fonte wants to help family physicians improving the process of diagnosing COPD.
He is an active member of GRESP/APMGF (Study Group of Respiratory Diseases/Portugal Association of General Practice). Responsible for the coordination of COPD and Spirometry subgroups during the past 6 years, until October 2021, where he took part as a member of the GRESP coordination.
He is an active member of IPCRG (International Primary Care Respiratory Group). Since October 2021, he is leading the Portuguese branch of an international project named COPD Right Care. This intends to be a social movement whose main goal is to deliver the right care to the right patients.
He has been member of scientific committees and speaker in diverse national and international congresses.
