“Maria Pereira, MD, is an endocrinologist at Braga Hospital, in Portugal. Studied medicine at the Oporto University and during her Endocrinologist boarding was a visiting clinical fellow in Endocrinology at the St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London (2002). She started her carrier as an Endocrinologist in 2003 in Braga Hospital. She is responsible for the consultation of Diabetes and Endocrine Pathology in Pregnancy since then and she is responsible for the Endocrinology support in the Multidisciplinary consultation in the treatment of Morbid Obesity (bariatric surgery) since 2005. She is an active member of the Study Groups for Endocrine Pathology in Pregnancy of the Portuguese Societies of Diabetology (SPD) and Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (SPEDM), contributing to the Portuguese Gestational Diabetes Consensus (2011). She was the coordinator of the Study Group of Adrenal Tumours of SPEDM between 2016 and 2019. She co-authored multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts in multiple areas, such as obesity, thyroid, adrenal, diabetes and endocrine pathology in pregnancy.
