Diana is a Biologist with a MSc degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology obtained in 2014 at the University of Aveiro. Diana started her scientific journey in 2013, when She joined the Cardiovascular Research Centre (UniC) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, under the supervision of Prof. Brás-Silva, to study the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in pulmonary hypertension and associated right ventricular dysfunction. In 2015, she went 6 months to Canada to the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute, after which She moved to Belgium, to enrol in doctoral studies at the University of Louvain, under the supervision of Prof. Pilette. Diana’s research aimed at investigating the mechanisms involved in vascular and parenchymal remodelling, as well as endothelial homeostasis in the progression of pulmonary fibrosis. Diana was awarded a PhD in Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences in December 2022, after which She joined the group of Prof. Carvalho and Prof. Cunha, at ICVS, to focus on decoding the heterogeneity of sarcoid granulomas landscape and how genetics, immunology and metabolism influence different clinical outcomes.
