Edgar Pinto

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Deep/machine Learning
  • Medical Image Processing
  • Anomaly Detection

Edgar Pinto is a MSc student in Biomedical Engineering, specializing in Medical Electronics, at University of Minho (UM, Portugal). In 2022, he collaborated with Centro ALGORITMI, UM, on a research project focused on Organ-on-a-chip geometry optimization. This collaboration resulted in an award, “Prémio Iniciação à Investigação Científica”, and a conference paper
in IMECE 2023. Since 2023, Edgar is a researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), School of Medicine, UM, having been granted a fellowship as part of an FCT-funded research project. His master’s thesis aims to develop a novel deep learning-based algorithm for the automatic detection of extracardiac findings in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images, with the ultimate goal of providing complementary information for the diagnose and more appropriate treatment of the patient.
