Emanuel Carvalho-Dias

Emanuel Carvalho-Dias (MD, PhD) is an Urology specialist at the Hospital de Braga since 2016, Professor of Physiology at the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, and a Researcher at Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS). Emanuel Carvalho-Dias’ main research interests include the regulation of prostate growth (in benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer), the development of new minimally invasive surgical techniques, and, more recently, the study of new imaging methodologies for intraoperative assistance. At ICVS, Emanuel founded a research team of physicians and biologists who have progressively developed expertise in various techniques to investigate the regulation of prostate growth, assess the etiology, and explore new pathways with potential therapeutic applications for prostate diseases. Given his interest and enthusiasm for Minimally Invasive Surgery techniques, Emanuel Carvalho-Dias is strongly committed to the development and refinement of minimally invasive urologic surgery, particularly Robotic Surgery such as Robotic Assisted Radical Prostatectomy, Robotic Radical Cystectomy and robotic partial nephrectomy.
