  • Neurodevelopmental disorders
  • intellectual disability
  • Down Syndrome

Isabella França obtained a B.Sc. in Biotechnology at University of Algarve (2021), where started her scientific career in the Neuroscience field. Currently, she is enrolled in a M.Sc. at the School of Medicine of University of Minho and is working in her thesis in collaboration with the Translational Neurogenetics research team. Isabella’s project focuses on investigating the over-inhibition of cortical networks in the context of the intellectual disability of Rett syndrome (RS) subjects. Therefore, her aim is to asses specific Interneuron (IN) subtype markers at different developmental stages, thus contributing to clarifying the mechanisms underlying RS IN dysfunction.
