João Barbosa

  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Tau protein
  • PHF6
  • PHF6*
  • Filamentous phages
  • Phage display
  • Targeted diagnosis
  • Ceanorhabditis elegans

João Barbosa holds a B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering (2024, University of Minho) and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Engineering at the University of Minho. He is carrying out his Master’s dissertation project at the Centre of Biological Engineering (CEB) and at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), University of Minho. He is supervised by Professor Joana Azeredo and Dr. Joana Pereira-Sousa. The project focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, with particular emphasis on tau-associated pathology, exploring the use of filamentous bacteriophages as platforms for the targeted recognition of pathological Tau protein, using Caenorhabditis elegans as a biological model.
