Margarida Gonçalves

  • Medical Statistics
  • Normalization
  • RStudio/R Shiny
  • Bioinformatics Tools

Margarida Gonçalves earned BSc and MSc degrees in Physics Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, and completed a second MSc in Medical Statistics at the same institution in 2024 (final grade 18/20). During a 2023 curricular internship with the PEvoGen group at ICVS (grade 20/20), she investigated normalization effects in RNA-seq data and developed GeneSEA Explorer, an R Shiny web application for differential-gene-expression analysis that aggregates DEG lists using Shannon-entropy-based metrics.

Margarida now joins the project “Malaria Therapeutic Failure Prediction Using Machine Learning,” where she will develop predictive models for malaria treatment failure using clinical, demographic, and parasitological data.
