Fátima Baltazar (Baltazar F) holds a degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (1992), Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.

From 1994-1998, she did her PhD in Biological Sciences at The University of Hull, Hull, UK. From 1998 to 2003, she did a Post-doc at the Biology Department, University of Minho. From 2003 to 2014, she was Assistant Professor and from 2014 to present she is Associate Professor at the Medical Faculty of the University of Minho, Braga, Portugal.

She started her research on the Oncobiology field in 2005 and she is currently a group leader and senior PI at ICVS (Life and Health Sciences Research Institute).

In the last years, Fatima’s main research interest has been on cancer metabolism, especially on the role of monocarboxylate transporters (MCTs), using human tumor samples and suitable models for in vitro and in vivo studies.

Fátima Baltazar has published 85 international peer-reviewed research articles, 2 national research articles and 7 book chapters.

She is presently supervising 4 post-doc projects, 5 PhD thesis and already supervised 4 post-doc projects, 7 PhD thesis, 15 Master thesis and several under-graduated research projects.
