Pedro Araújo is a PhD student at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS), ICVS/3B’s - PT Government Associate Laboratory and the School of Health Sciences, University of Minho. He holds a degree in Genetics and Biotechnology (2012, University of Trás-os- Montes e Alto Douro) and a Master in Biochemistry (2014, Faculty of Sciences/ICBAS, University of Porto). In his Master thesis he worked in the Computational Chemistry and Biochemistry field, studying the ATP binding site of protein kinases. Currently, Pedro is developing his PhD project (PhD Program in Applied Health Sciences) in the molecular evolution and epidemiology of HIV-1. His research interests are the diversity and evolution of virus, and the mechanisms developed by these pathogens to escape immune response.
