Vítor Hugo Pereira (VHP) is a researcher at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute and at the Clinical Academic Center, where he is interested to dissect the mechanisms of autonomic control at central and peripheral levels using electrophysiological and imaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance. His team showed that the central autonomic nervous system dynamics are altered in patients with a previous episode of Takotsubo Syndrome. VHP is also an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine, University of Minho. He is the coordinator of the Clinical Skills Laboratory and is involved in the organization of several simulation activities and in the management of the Standardized Patients program. Lately he led the implementation of bedside ultrasound in the undergraduate curriculum. In addition to his educational and research activities VHP is an Assistant Cardiologist at the Hospital of Braga. He is specialized in cardiovascular imaging namely echocardiography and cardiac magnetic resonance. He is the CEO of AI4MedImaging.
