Rúben Freitas obtained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from the University of Minho in 2022. Currently, he is enrolled in the second year of the master’s program in Applied Biochemistry at the University of Minho, where he is working on his master’s thesis in Health Sciences at the School of Medicine of the University of Minho, integrating the Translational Neurogenetics group coordinated by Patrícia Maciel in collaboration with the Department of Biology of the University of Minho (Dr. Rui Oliveira). During this period, his work focuses on exploring extracts from macroalgae as a potential therapy for neurodegenerative diseases, using S.cerevisiae and C.elegans models to conduct this study.
