“Sónia Ferreira has a master’s in biomedical engineering, with a specialization in medical instrumentation, from the University of Coimbra (Coimbra, Portugal). In the past years, she has worked as a clinical researcher in the Coimbra Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Translational Research (CIBIT, Faculty of Medicine-University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal) in two international neuroimaging projects with patients with visual and hearing deficits. Additionally, Sónia has done her Ph.D. in health sciences at Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS, School of Medicine-University of Minho, Braga, Portugal) focused on a neuroimaging-based treatment for patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder. During this period, she also collaborated on several projects involving the study of brain function and structure in stress, anxiety, and depression-related disorders, and involving public mental health.
In the past year, Sónia has been working as a clinical researcher at the ICVS’ STRESS.COM group. She recently joined the Clinical Academic Center-Braga (2CA, Braga, Portugal) as a clinical trial monitor and as a freelance biostastician. She is proficient in planning, implementing, and executing clinical studies, as well as experienced with ethics committee submissions, participants’ recruitment, data collection/management, statistical analysis, trial monitoring, and scientific/medical writing.
