Exploring SNXs Role in the nervous system: implications for pathology

Our research main focus over the past years has been to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying proteostasis regulation and their relevance for physiological and pathological processes. More specifically, we are interested on understanding how defects in protein homeostasis arising from SNXs’ cargo mis-regulation can negatively affect the nervous and immune systems, particularly during AGING or STRESS exposure. Conditions that trigger endocytic dysregulation and neurological disorders. Ultimately,we aim to validate SNXs as disease-associated biomarkers; to understand the molecular mechanisms involved; and to develop diagnostic/therapeutic tools. These results can potentially contribute to the understanding of aging- and/or stress-associated behavioral impairments and the progression of neurological disorders.
